VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

Add the local connector to VS Code agent mode via .vscode/mcp.json

VS Code reads MCP servers for Copilot agent mode from .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace. Create the file with the block below, start the server from the file or the MCP view, and the ai.to.design tools appear in agent mode.

Tips

VS Code uses a top-level servers key, not mcpServers like most other clients.
Switch Copilot Chat to Agent mode — MCP tools are not available in Ask mode.
Node.js 18 or later must be installed on your machine.
